Montreal Airport Refuellers on Strike

Around 100 unionized employees of Swissport Canada, the lone refueling company at Trudeau and Mirabel airports, have been on strike since 11 a.m. on Tuesday, after overwhelmingly rejecting a contract offer.

Swissport is currently refueling planes at the airports using a team of managers from all over the country.

As of Wednesday night, many flights were experiencing delays, but most were taking off within two hours of their originally scheduled departure time.

The Canada Industrial Relations Board ordered both Swissport Canada and the union to return to negotiations today.

OEC is following this matter closely, and as soon as more information becomes available, we will be providing updates.
